Together with the department of law of the university named after Alfred Nobel, experts of the Centre “Innovations, Investments, Intellect” have created the first delictology research laboratory in Ukraine.
In view of the need to train highly qualified legal specialists for organisations, agencies and enterprises; to improve the qualifications of civil servants of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health, of lawyers and human rights defenders, and of law enforcement officers of the Ukrainian security service, the Prosecutor's Office and the National Police; to involve academic and teaching staff, doctoral students, postgraduate students, master's students and students of the University in research work; with the need to prepare proposals for bringing national legislation closer to EU standards; and to provide advisory assistance to the practical units of law enforcement bodies and to structural units of state authorities and local self-government, a delictology research laboratory has been established at the department of law of the university named after Alfred Nobel.
The purpose of the Laboratory's activities is to analyse national legislation on the regulatory and legal framework for countering offences (delicts): crimes and misdemeanours; to study the practical experience of law enforcement bodies in the world's leading countries; and to create a model of legislation that is as unfavourable as possible to delicts and as intolerant as possible of corruption, oriented towards the priority foundations for the development of a sovereign, independent and law-governed state and the protection of human rights and freedoms.
To achieve this goal, the academic and teaching staff of the Department of Law, together with scholars working in law enforcement bodies and in state authorities, carry out on a voluntary basis:
- the preparation of teaching aids, textbooks and methodological materials, and support for the preparation of students, postgraduate students and young scholars to address pressing scientific and scientific-technical problems;
- the preparation of proposals for legal acts on improving state mechanisms for the prevention, deterrence and combating of offences;
- study delictology and criminology as its component part, as well as the theoretical, regulatory and organizational foundations for preventing crime and particular types of unlawful behavior in various spheres of activity;
- research and analyze the state of public opinion about crime and about the activities of law enforcement agencies in countering it;
- develop scientific and practical commentaries on the codes and laws of Ukraine.
