The Alliance of Ukrainian Universities has developed a package of practical materials that will help higher education institutions build systematic support for veterans and members of their families.
The developments will be presented during an open online presentation.
Representatives of universities and other educational institutions, as well as veterans' and civil society organisations that already work with the veteran community or plan to develop this area, are invited to take part in the presentation.
The package includes a framework veterans policy, the self-assessment tool “A Veteran-Friendly University” and methodological recommendations for it.
The policy can serve as the basis for developing a university's own document, while the tool and recommendations will help assess existing practices, identify gaps and prepare a plan for further action.
The materials also collect the practices of the Alliance's universities in working with the veteran community: the experience of veterans' offices, implementing projects, holding events and other initiatives to support veterans and members of their families.
During the meeting, the organisers will explain how to use the materials, and representatives of Sumy State University will tell how they prepared their own policy on the basis of the framework document.
The Manifesto on the introduction of systematic support for veterans at universities in Ukraine and the procedure for joining it will also be presented.
In addition, time is set aside for discussion and answers to questions.
The basis of the documents was prepared by the Alliance's working group, drawing on the existing policies of individual universities and their practical experience.
An important stage was the forum “Veterans. Universities. Society”, held on 10–11 June 2026 at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv.
Over two days, representatives of universities, state institutions, veterans' and civil society organisations, business and the expert community worked on the documents in thematic groups, submitting proposals and comments. After the forum, the working group systematised them and refined the package of materials.
The presentation will take place on 11 November 2026 from 16:00 to 17:30 on Zoom.
To take part, you need to register in advance.
Registered participants will receive the link to the Zoom meeting at the email address they provided one day before the event.
